Through a planned program of annual fundraising that is driven by people just like you, HPCG is able to provide a vast array of services. Memorial gifts, annual gifts, United Way support and Light Up A Life gifts, make our work possible. But each of these funding sources is vulnerable. Funding levels can change as the political climate changes, companies are cutting costs under pressure, and even individual donations are also subject to fluctuations in the economy.

The result of uncertain funding in the face of rising demand is that HPCG incurs a deficit some years or a modest surplus other years, but does not have adequate reliable, stable endowment funding to ensure the ability to ride out economic ups and downs.

HPCG believes that the best way to remain sound financial stewards of community resources, to ride out economic and health care fluctuations, and to more fully realize its mission is to build permanent endowment funds. Through bequests and campaign efforts, HPCG has built endowed funds totaling nearly $6 million. Our long-term goal, however, is to have a $10 million endowment. This endowment will generate approximately $450,000 each year to cover indigent care, educational outreach to physicians and the community, on-going staff education and training, and services that are currently un-reimbursable such as bereavement care, Kids Path care, chaplaincy, and therapeutic gardening. With a stable endowment, the agency will be able to go beyond making ends meet and develop long term plans to respond to a rapidly aging population with complex care needs.

Donors may create a named endowment depending on their special interest. The endowments are invested and a portion of their earned interest provides funds in perpetuity that can be focused within any one of HPCG’s many services and programs.
