Why Give? The Need PDF Print E-mail

Most HPCG services are reimbursed by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance. Some services, however, do not have traditional reimbursement sources, including: care for the indigent, services for grieving and medically fragile children, and bereavement counseling and education for adults.  Each year, HPCG spends nearly $1 million providing these services to our community. “Why do we do this?” you may ask. We do it, because we are mission-driven, we believe in meeting the unique needs of our community, and because it is the right thing to do. And to date, because of strong community support, no one has ever been denied care because of an inability to pay.

Some of the services that do not have traditional reimbursement sources include: care for the indigent, services for grieving and medically fragile children, and bereavement counseling and education for adults.

HPCG has built a regional and national reputation as a hospice program that regularly meets the unique needs of our community. We expanded hospice care to residents of assisted living and long-term care facilities. Hospice services are also available through Beacon Place. HPCG has been recognized as a national model for extending our expertise to care for medically fragile children through our Kids Path program. Counseling, consultation and education services are also available through HPCG for the general public. Palliative or symptom-focused treatment is the hallmark of hospice care for the terminally ill. Therefore, HPCG has begun to offer this expertise earlier in the cycle of illness, when a prognosis may be unclear and cure-oriented treatment is underway.

So, how do we pay for these programs? There are a variety of gift options available if you are interested in supporting any of these HPCG programs.

We are proud to tell people we work for Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. And you should feel proud as well for supporting and volunteering for this incredible community resource.

Your support is appreciated!
